Sounds Good: Creating an Album
I have been playing music for most of my life, and writing my own since my teens. Most of the music I've created has only existing on scraps of paper, phone recordings, and in my memory. It was time for these deeply personal works to find a place to live together. I cultivated a blog full of videos, recordings, artwork, lyrics, notes, and reflections on my songwriting experiences, so that my music could exist in a collected digital form. I also studied the music of those I look up to.
I learned that I use music as a coping mechanism. It is a safe outlet for negative emotions, and help me deal with pain, heartbreak, or loneliness. I am much more interested in the emotional value of music than the technical skill. Recognizing this has challenged me to also reflect on the positive in my life through music! This is a collection of memories, each song indicative of a moment in my recent life. |

I held a show in my living room for some close friends. I played a mix of songs I had written and covers of artists I really admire. Click through to the youtube pages to see the titles of the songs. This was a nerve-wracking experience for me, sharing something I hold so profoundly personal with those I admire. It made me feel closer to my friends, and better about sharing my emotions. I hope you enjoy! xoxo
